Bio

Over the years, Erika Yeomans has created an extensive body of work in theater, mixed media and film. As the co-founder and artistic director of the performance company Doorika, she collaborated with various artists such as
Casey Spooner,
The Aluminum Group,
Bobby Conn, Jon Langford of the Mekons, filmmaker
Ken Kobland, Doug Huston,
Andrea Polli, Eric Koziol and
Ken Weaver to create multimedia and theater projects in Chicago and New York. In 1996, her video project based on Dutch conceptual artist Bas Jan Ader: IN SEARCH OF BAS JAN'S MIRACULOUS (40 min, found footage/montage 1997) was featured on an episode of
This American Life. Since 1999, Yeomans has focused primarily on filmmaking. Her videos and films have won grants and screened at film festivals and art institutions around the world, including: London's ICA, Lincoln Center's New York Video Festival, Los Angeles' Disney Hall/REDCAT Theater, Berlin's Transmediale, Silver Lake Film Festival, Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum, Amsterdam's Stedelijk Museum, Cinematek at the Danish Film Institute and New York's Anthology Film Archives. In 2006, she was awarded a New York State Media Arts Grant for her debut feature film
POSE DOWN (90 mins, Super 16, 2007), which is currently touring film festivals. Her award-winning experimental film
CHUBBY BUDDY: The Last Castrato is online as part of New York Magazine's Vulture Picture Palace. In 2008, Yeomans completed 3 new video projects that continue to explore different film genres:
